Want to become a raft guide?

What It Takes
Raft guide training is very physically and mentally demanding. Colorado requires a minimum of 50 hours of on-river time, First Aid and CPR certifications to become a raft guide. During this program, our trainees will receive their Wilderness First Aid and CPR certifications, a Swiftwater Rescue course, and approximately 100 on-river hours. This will allow for our guides to feel well prepared if they are hired, after completing a successful check ride.
We also require a $300 refundable deposit prior to the first day of training. This deposit is yours to keep after completing a successful season with us.

How Long Does It Take
Our training program is 3 weeks long. This time includes a Wilderness First Aid and CPR certifications, a Swiftwater Rescue course, and 100 hours of on-river training. Trainees are expected to be present each day during the scheduled training. Missing any day will result in the end of the training for that person and will no longer be considered for hire or a check ride.

What To Expect
Raft guide training is very competitive in Colorado and takes mental and physical toughness. Throughout the training, our trainees will be swimming rapids, flipping boats, and practicing swiftwater rescue skills each day. Guides should come prepared with plenty of food and water for long days to be able to perform at their best. Everyone is expected to adopt top notch customer service skills and be able to handle stressful situations at any moment. This training is not for everyone!
